Jason Lambert has been the Rehearsal and Concert Choir Accompanist for the Phoenix Male Voice Choir since Autumn 2016. Born in Newark on Trent, he started learning the piano at nine years old, going on to learn the organ at sixteen. Jason went to Ripon and York St John University, gaining scholarships with the Cathedral Organist of Ripon Cathedral and with a professional pianist. He graduated in 2001 with a BA (Hons) in the Performing Arts. During his studies, he conducted the Chamber Choir at Canterbury Cathedral and sang with the University Choir. He worked in different genres of music whilst at university and became Musical Director of the female student St Cecilia Choir during his PGCE year. Jason is also Musical Director of the mixed voice Norwich Singers, having held that role for several years now, and numbers having accompanied the Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society at Norwich's Maddermarket Theatre and their professional soloists among his other achievements. He has also played for various churches and is currently Church Organist for St Edmund's Costessey and St Giles Newark. As well as playing for and accompanying other groups, he accompanied our concert companions Radcliffe-on-Trent Male Voice Choir on their visit to Norwich in Spring 2017 when their usual accompanist was unable to appear, as well as accompanying our own Choir in that weekend's joint concert. His piano solos are a feature of Phoenix Male Voice Choir's concert productions and he ably repetiteurs the choir when needed, and rehearses our concert soloists. He was Concert Director for our invitation-only event in December 2021 when sadly our MD Sarah Grimes was unable to take part herself. |
