We are delighted that Sarah has been the Musical Director of the Norwich Phoenix Male Voice Choir since its formation in February 2010. She has also been Musical Director for Encore, a mixed choir based in Wymondham, and is accompanist for the Norfolk-based male vocal quartet, The Four Hoarsemen.
Sarah started playing the piano at the age of seven and also learned to play the clarinet while at school. She graduated from Newcastle University in 2000 with a BA (Hons) in Music and was a member of the University Choir and Chamber Choir. She went on to complete her Masters Degree in Arts Management at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge in 2007. Sarah has been involved in many amateur groups. She was Musical Director for a sell-out production of West Side Story by Stalham Players in 2002, putting together an 18-piece orchestra from scratch and directing the performances from the piano. She was also Assistant Musical Director / Rehearsal Pianist for a production of Cabaret by the Norfolk Youth Music Theatre in the same year. For several years up to 2011, Sarah was Musical Director for the Horning Amateur Theatrical Society, during which time she directed seven pantomimes and productions of South Pacific and My Fair Lady from the piano, as well as producing and directing a sell-out run of The King and I. Since joining the Norwich Phoenix Male Voice Choir, she has been a significant helpful influence and instrumental in where the Choir sees itself today. Over the years, there have been many highlights with Sarah at the helm, particularly when she conducted over 100 singers in Norwich's iconic Anglican Cathedral for the massed choir finale of the National Association of Choirs Gala Concert in 2018. She is a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians. |
