Choir News and Updates from ~The Phoenix ~

27th   July   2019   -   Change   OF   CONCERT   VENUE

2019 PROGRAMME CHANGE

We do need to tell you of a change in our 2019 programme which is not in our 2019 Concert Season Brochure.   No sooner was our Brochure released, than we heard that our Saturday 27 July invitation to Thompson near Watton will not now take place.   This is a great shame, because we were looking forward to it very much, but rest assured everyone, that circumstances beyond our control won't get in the way of a good concert...!

Instead, we will be appearing 'at home' on Saturday 27th July 2019, as we have added in a Mile Cross Summer Concert date!  So don't forget to change the Brochure if you have one: replace our 27 July invitation to Thompson with our own concert at Mile Cross Methodist Church, Norwich, and we hope to see you there.  We don't 'name' guest invitations, because we try to fit into the theme of our hosts, so it's provisionally called "A Night with The Phoenix" for no better current reason than that is exactly what it will be!

Of course, even if you haven't got our 2019 Concert Season brochure (how did that happen???), you are very welcome to join us in Norwich that evening!

A   VISIT   FROM   BROTHERS   IN   SONG...!

We're meeting up with Friends, Old and New...!

...we had a great visit last week from Keith and Steve from Millhouse Green Male Voice Choir and their lovely wives Judy and Angela respectively.

We popped in to Witard Road Baptist Church to show the fellas where we will be sharing our concert in September and we are looking forward to welcoming not only Millhouse Green MVC's MD Rachel and our Brothers in Song from South Yorkshire and their better halves and friends, but, we hope, a bumper audience from Thorpe St Andrew and east of Norwich to cheer everyone along!  Later on, our four guests joined us for our first rehearsal of the week and we could show them where we hold our 'home' concerts (diaries out...   ...the next is Saturday 27th April!) too!

And, thinking about Brothers in Song, we're also looking forward to our first 'proper' singing trip to meet up again with our 'old' (that's metaphorical!) Friends at Radcliffe-on-Trent Male Voice Choir.

Can't wait!

THAT   WAS   THE   WEEK   THAT   WAS...

I've just emailed our Members about some latest developments and... ...yes, I know I'm king of the detailed email ;) but it's a sign of how much is going on at present, that it was a bit longer than intended, so I hope our Members stick with it!!!

Here for you though is a quick 7 day summary:
Last Wednesday, we said our fond and sad cheerio to singing pal Chris (as already reported), but on Saturday, we carried out our very first private singing engagement in a small but lovely Church south-west of Norwich!!!  Can't tell you too much - otherwise our Alan G will be dispatched to all quarters of the UK with his GDPR forms :)) - however, the contingent from Wales gave us a rousing cheer for our Welsh rendition of Calon Lan (Helo ffrindiau a diolch i chi!) and we wish Sarah and Steve all the very best in their new life together!  We are hoping to see the happy couple as part of our new audience!  Just 4 days though separating such great lows and highs...

Last night (Tuesday), to coincide with our new rehearsal schedule, we launched the posters for our forthcoming April Concert, 'Love on an April Evening' (right).  If you are able to display one, thank you!  Please ask us for an original and make sure you are on our distribution list, or you can find a printable version by clicking here!

This also starts our new relationship with Norwich's well-established and respected music shop, St George's, as our advance ticket sales box office in the city for in person, phone and postal sales, along with our new online presence with ticket sales agency, TicketSource, with its 'print at home' facility.  We are very excited about how these new avenues to tickets in advance for our concerts will develop for our audience!  If you normally get your tickets via a Phoenix Choir Member, then there is no need to worry, because nothing has changed for you!

So, that was the week that was...  ...and, whew, what a week!
