It always seems to be the start of Autumn after the Last Night of the Proms has been on the telly (or if you are lucky enough, to actually have been at the Royal Albert Hall!), and the weather has certainly done its best to confirm it since.

But it is just as certainly a sunny Summer in our hearts as we start rehearsals for our next exciting season of singing and we were pleased to welcome back our Singing Members after the summer break and our early Autumn joint concert with our new singing pals from Millhouse Green.

A new season means new Open Rehearsals and our rehearsal doors have been flung open during September, so Gentlemen non-Members can have a peek inside, see what we do, consider singing in a choir for a hobby, and, if we are lucky, find a singing home with us.  We have been delighted to welcome our rehearsal visitors this month so far, but it is now your last chance to visit if you have not done so yet!

We know what it is like to try to learn repertoire in a short timescale, so it is always a great idea to join us during Open Rehearsals and find your feet with us at the beginning of a singing season.

But alas, our last Open Rehearsal is THIS THURSDAY 26th SEPTEMBER, so make a point of meeting us for 7.30pm at our Home Base.

Then, from October, we'll be concentrating on our Christmas Concert programme in a wholesale way!

Here we go again...   ...Christmas Carols in September and October!!!   I don't believe it!!!

STILL   FLYING   ...!

Oh, what a night!
If late December 1963 was good (and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons assure us all it was!!!), then what can we say about early September 2019???  A standing ovation from the WHOLE audience - surely one of the best nights of male choral singing this side of Nelson's County in recent years and we are still flying on 'Cloud 9' as a result...!   ...but we weren't alone in sharing the musical love!

The excellent Millhouse Green Male Voice Choir not only put in a wonderful performance at the City's Anglican Cathedral on Thursday afternoon, but delivered another stunning performance over two sets on Saturday at Witard Road Baptist Church, then joined with Phoenix in each half to form a massed male choir of over 60 voices to raise the roof with some traditional favourites.  Huge musical respect to Millhouse Green Musical Director Rachel Atkinson and Accompanist Philip Sutcliffe who led the first half finale and naturally to our very own MD Sarah Grimes and Accompanist Jason Lambert for the second half conclusion.  It was an absolute delight to meet everyone associated with our visitors during their long weekend in Norwich and we wait with anticipation for the chance to meet up again!

Another winner on the night will be our Phoenix Charity of the Year, the Priscilla Bacon Support Group, who will benefit from fundraising during the evening and the generosity of everyone there.

So, a huge thank you then to everyone who made our joint Male Voice Choir concert such a great succ
ess, including our incredible guests from Millhouse Green, our fabulous audience, our concert volunteers, everyone at Witard Road Baptist Church on the evening for being so supportive, St George's Music Shop and our wonderful and accommodating Poster Partner and Flyer Friend businesses of all sizes in Norwich and wider Norfolk for very kindly displaying our concert publicity! Thank you!!!!

So, now, Gentlemen...!   Don't you wish you were on the stage with us on nights like that???
Well you can be!  Just come along to an Open Rehearsal this month, and let us show you how!!!

(t)Witterings from the Choir's Webmaster, The Phoenix, but it's normally about what we are going to be or have been up to, something nice about someone we have sung with, or a gracious reply to one of your own wonderful comments.
